The Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church is a Roman Catholic church in Dublin, Ireland maintained by the Carmelite order.
The Church (officially dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel) is one of the more important lesser known sights of Dublin – if only because the relics of Saint Valentine can be found here and an annual pilgrimage is undertaken by many every February 14th, Saint Valentine’s Day
The interior of the Carmelite church is in total contrast to its bleak and grey exterior. The Church is one of the largest in Dublin, and houses one of the finest organs in the country.
Another historically important piece to look out for in this example of the churches of Ireland is Our Lady of Dublin – a 15th century wooden statue of the Virgin, originally from St. Mary’s Abbey.
Address: Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church, 56 Aungier Street, Dublin City Ireland
