Originally an army barracks, The National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History is home to a wide range of objects, which include weaponry, furniture, silver, ceramics and glassware; as well as examples of Folklife and costume. In this Dublin visitor attraction you will find Irish haute couture garments, furniture, silver, jewellery, ceramics, and exhibitions exploring Irish military history, including the 1916 Easter Rising.
Exhibitions of note in the past were the magnificent Irish High Crosses. This temporary exhibition was up when we visited but has now since finished. It contained six 100 year old plaster-of-Paris casts with the West Cross from Monasterboice as a centrepiece standing at 6.5 metres high. It was truly a sight to behold.
Antrim is the county town of County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Antrim is a small town not frequently visited by tourists, yet it is one of the more historic towns in Northern Ireland with many interesting sights and buildings of historic note.
